Who's Your Daddy (Yes I am)

Wow first of all a little background on the artist that is Aphex Twin. Real Name: Richard D. James. From what I understand he used to create all of his analog musical instruments and synthesizers by hand. Currently he uses the macintosh platform (he takes a powerbook on tour with him) to create the rhythmic bombardment he calls music, and he happens to write the software himself. Definitely a man deserving of the badge musical prodigy. Tracks rated from 1-10 only a few tracks in a lifetime get a 10 anything below three means don't even bother 5 is about average.

(6) Track 1: Wonderful flowing track and the only rock sounding track on the EP. If you've heard this song (Come to Daddy) and were wanting a bunch of tracks just like this one you probably shouldn't buy the CD. With a guitarlike riff and drum'n'bass rhythmic backdrop this track sounds like it could come of a Nine inch nails CD. The repeated words I want your soul and come to daddy are the main theme in this song. Not my favorite track but definitely good enough for a listen now and again.

(6) Track 2: A soothing track that seems to lend alot of credit to the current jungle/ drum'n'bass trend. A soft melodic structure with a fast alternating breakbeat underneath. It also contains alternating bass frequencies that range from soft thumps to a resounding boom. The rhythym is not straigtforward but is easy to bob your head to making it a fun tune. Kind of a chill out music you could say.

(8) Track 3: An almost disturbingly mellow track. The phrase "eewww you dirty little boy" is altered and pitch shifted to the rhythym for the last part of the track. With a soft music box-like melody accompanied by an alternating bass tone gives it an eerie feel. Definitely a good listen. The rhythym is in the melody.

(9) Track 4: My favorite Track on this EP. It doesn't really have a discernable melody. Everything is rhythym. Rhythym pushed to the point that it is at such a frequency as to mimic tones. Funny thing about it is the track is called Bucephalus bouncing ball. Bu=four and cephalus=head. essentially the title describes the song best. If you were knocked unconcious by a bag of marbles, basketballs, softballs, and ball bearings opened over your forehead, this is the song that would be playing in the dream you have.

(8) Track 5: Hmm, wow imagine that another rhythmically varied track, I think you're beginning to understand why I enjoy Aphex Twin's Music so much. this is a mellowed track and is quite varied in rhythym and textural sounds, another good chill out track.

(7) Track 6: 4 4 beat, with a bunch of pissed off ewoks running around yelling at you. That's about the best I can do to describe this track to you

(8) Track 7: Wow another assault on rhythym. This song is almost as hard to follow rhythymically as track 4: (Bucephalus Bouncing ball). Starts out with an altered voice saying "you've got so many machines to check". It then takes off and doesn't come back. You really can't quite bob your head to this one.

(8) Track 8: Definite chill out music. Starts out with a sample of a boy saying what sounds like "Stop making that big face" in an accusing tone. This is very straightforward rhythmically and the tempo is rather low. You could fall asleep to it.
